Recommendations

I’m applying as a Biology major. Does this mean I need 3 teacher recommendations, including one science teacher? Or does it mean I need 2 recommendations, 1 being a science teacher?

No, only if you're doing PLME do you need a science teacher's recommendation.

You also need it if you're applying for a Bachelor's of Science degree (Sc.B), actually. Brown has the Biology concentration as both A.B. and Sc.B. So if you already know which one you want, you can decide whether or not to ask a math/science teacher for that third rec. And the math/science rec is different from the regular rec, so I think you could ask a teacher to write a regular rec and the math/science one (if they were fine with it). But you wouldn't be forced to concentrate in what you applied as if you got in and went. I applied A.B. though so I don't really know how that works. I get the sense that less people apply for Science degrees though. You should check the Biology Department's website and see what the differences in the two degrees are and which one you're more interested in.
