I believe that i saw that BU only asks for one teacher recommendation. However, if I know an respected alumni that would be willing to write me a letter of recommendation will they also consider it with the application?

I’m almost certain you can send in more than one recommendation. Send the one from your teacher and another from your connection?

Be sure the alum actually knows you. Check with your guidance counselor, but a non-informative letter from a “big name” might not be all that helpful. You might be better off with an extra letter from a coach or someone who knows you well. Also remember they get over 50,000 applications. Perhaps that is why they only request one teacher letter.

right, um but if the person did know me and my unique qualities/characteristics, would it be more helpful to have an alumni write it or a teacher or its the same?
thanks

Bu has an awful lot of alumni. In fact they have a huge number of living alumni. Maybe you should find a teacher who is an alum to write it.:)

I don’t think the person being an alum is going to have a huge effect.
