Recommendations

So, I know Emory University (and some others, like Cornell) requires 2 teacher recommendation letters but allows 4. Is it really to my disadvantage if I only am able to get 2 teacher recommendations and not any more? I am hoping for 3, but I feel I am only going to get 2 at this point. I may be able to get 1 recommender for the "other recommenders" section, however.

Any insights? Thanks a lot!

Well I only sent 2 teacher recommendations (and an employer) and I got in… my admissions rep said basically they set the number at 2 because by then they have a good impression of where you’re at without the letters becoming repetitive. So basically don’t worry if you can’t meet the maximum number of letters, long as your two represent you you’ll be fine.
