Recommendations?

How many teacher recommendations do you need for freshman admission to JHU? I know there are 2 teacher reports on the common app, but I think I read somewhere that only one is needed. Can you send in other recommendations besides from teachers? If so, is there a certain form or would it just be a general character letter?

As far as letters of recommendations for freshman applicants:

Everyone is required to have one letter of recommendation from their guidance or college counselor. This should accompany the secondary school report and high school transcript.

All applicants are also required to have a second letter of recommendation from an academic teacher. We recommend that this be a teacher in a core academic subject (English, Math, Science, Foreign Language, and/or Social Science) and that it be from a Junior (11th) or Senior (12th) year teacher. There is no requirement that the recommendation provider be from the same academic area that the applicant selected as their area of interest -- the choice is up to each individual application to make.

Additional letters of recommendation will be accepted but we request that applicants NOT SUBMIT MORE THAN FOUR TOTAL LETTERS OF RECOMMENDATION.

The additional one or two letters of recommendation can come from another teacher, extracurricular advisor, coach, boss, etc. We have no preference here, but do not suggest parental or peer letters of recommendation.

Thanks for searching for and posting my previous comments about letters of recommendations, JHUMD. That searc function is wonderful.
