<p>D hated History too, until she had an excellent teacher junior year for AP US (then she tolerated the class). She took AP Gov Senior year (Gov is a graduation requirement here), and had another great teacher and loved it. So if your D got a really top teacher it might make a difference. </p>
<p>That said, your D’s Senior schedule looks very challenging and the schools recognize that it’s not always possible to “do it all”. My D didn’t take an AP science her senior year b/c she opted for AP Spanish. She got into her top school.</p>
<p>D’s HS alloed only 3 APs /per year. they were not allowed to take them in 9th and 10th grade either.</p>
<p>My D always struggled to get A’s and B+'s in English classes. She took all AP/Honors Math, Sciences and History classes. She actually had a study hall for one block in her senior year. She would have dropped English but needed it to graduate. She got into Berkeley and Stanford. They seemed to understand she isn’t perfect at everything. You child should do what they feel strongly about. Explain on application if you feel it is necessary.</p>
