I've read 30 books consecutively and i doesn't work. I want to get at least a 740 on the CR but right now i have a 620, which sucks because no matter what i do, i can't raise this stupid stagnant score . HELP????

Not to discourage you, but raising CR is pretty hard (even though I'm good at it, I would put it as the hardest section to improve on). It might not be realistic to improve that much if you've already been working hard to get it to a 620.

Well, im a freshmen. Does that take into account of the possibility of raising my CR scores considering i have plenty of time?

I have a question as to how people read: It might sound strange so bear with me please. Do YOU read inside your head or out loud? Would this answer have any impact on my performance as far as reading is concerned?

Pbailey, what did u get on the CR section? Did u read the passage, then answer questions? Or did u answer questions while u read the passage?

WHy don't u answer me Pbailey? WHat's wrong?

lol. you can improve your scores in any section. It really just takes practice. CR was my worst before. I knew like 0 vocabulary and i just thought the questions were just plain freaking hard b/c its weird wording.

Anyways long story short, i prepped (on my own), upgraded my vocab skills, took a lot of practice tests, started reading everything (keeping SAT CR in the back of my mind), and on my real SAT, my CR was the highest.

Experiment w/ techniques and see which work best for you. Read, then ? or ? then read, etc.

But which one worked best for U? This is a very serious question.

But which one works for YOU?

Oh and what does b/c stand for? (I spell my words out instead of using shorthand, mind you)

LALalala LALALALALA LALALALA.

Many people who read the passage first and then answer questions have reallllllllyyyyyy good memory. Do you need to have really good memory if you are deciding to read the passage first, then answer questions?

Answer me NOW!!! MUHUHAHA!!!! (Im just a freshmen)

PR =) get their 11 practice tests book and do the entire thing.
Read the questions before you read the passage.

i think this is the craziest i've seen thus far.....you are a freshman man...your acting like your taking it for the last time in october...you have more than enough time to prepare...just relax and enjoy life as a young teenager...lord knows you'll never experience the same lack of responsibility/relaxation that you should be enjoying now...just CHILLLL

Im sorry. I am very worried. I just want to get into the college of my choice. It doesn't feel as if i have a lot of time.
MUHUHAAAAAAAHAHAAAAAAAAA!!!!

I don't know what else I could have done for you. I did all this research on every forum and site. The Blue Book and RocketReview = success. Now go buy them or you'll further doubt yourself and never make a move.

GO.

thanks alot. I already have the blue book. With that, the most i can do is learn from my mistakes as far as the reading section is concerned. However, that's kind of hard because the book has no explanation for any of the practice tests. All i have left is the RocketReview revolution to buy. I really do hope it works.

If you check the SAT Prep page it has a few posts on a compiled list of answers to the Blue Book. You should probably check them out. And as for RocketReview, I find it helpful already and I haven't even gotten past the introductory tutorials. It even provides a CD that grades your essays and simulates real testing conditions on your computer--proctor, sounds, and all--so it's similar to actually taking the SAT. Even if it's not your favorite book, you'll pick up really handy things and it can't hurt you.

I don't mean to pry but have you actually increased points from Rocketreview revolution? And if so, by how many points?
g

I haven't taken the SATs yet (besides middle school), but like I said before, I did hourssssssssssss of research and people have seen drastic increases in their
scores from this book.

You don't have to take my word for it; go check out reviews.

Has any one in College Confidential been accepted into YALE? IF so, can u tell me ur SAT score, and your EC's? I want to learn. It would be greatly appreciated.

Hey, my friend got into Yale, I want to go there too. Anyways, he ran all year, crosscountry, indoor track, and then outdoor track and he got a 2300 on the SAT's. I think he's a captain too, not sure. He told me he doesn't volunteer. O yea he's been playing the piano for like 13 years.

Needless to say, everyone is familiar with Adam Robinson, the genius who created Rocketreview Revolution. I have one of his books, Cracking the SAT. His tips are original, indeed. Now, are his tips the same in Rocketreview revolution? I just want to know before i buy the book. I don't want to spend $30 for the same tips i know.

Vasudevank, did u use rocketreview revolution when u boosted ur CR scores to 700 (which is awesome, by the way)? Was practice the main key in raising ur scores? ANd one more thing: the wording on the SAT's is weird. Bearing that in mind, did u reword the questions and the answer choices to comprehensively understand what ETS was asking for?
