Recruited for debate?

<p>I recently got an email from a university with a highly ranked debate program saying that they were going to give my application "special attention" in regards to acceptance and scholarship for my debate experience. </p>

<p>Does CC think its a good idea to contact other schools in order to try to get "recruited" for debate? For example, I know that Umich, Georgetown, Upenn, Notre Dame, and other schools that I applied to have either very established or budding debate programs that I am interested in. How do I go about contacting these colleges and highlighting my debate experience to gain an edge in admissions?</p>

<p>Those kinds of colleges don’t “recruit” for debate in that their debate teams, unlike sports teams, have no sway (or even contact with) the admissions offices. But the adcoms will consider debate alongside your other extracurricular activities.</p>
