I was contacted today by a recruiting service. At this point, no one is asking for money, but I definitely believe that time is coming... sooner than later.

My athlete is currently competitive at the D3 or low D2 level, so he's not outstanding.

Is there something a recruiting service can do for us that we can't do for ourselves? Is the idea with them that they put your info in front of coaches that are probably best match possibilities?

I believe S can have a profile on their page for free. Do we need more than that?

The company's website is awesome though with lots of useful tidbits of info :-)

I got good hits on using the search on this forum, so for the most part my questions are answered. If anyone wants to pipe in though, all opinions are welcome :-)

We did it for our son, but really, we only looked at or used the site well before actual recruiting started. All of the actual coach interest we have had has come from our contacting programs and filling out questionnaires and appearances at summer clinics and camps. It was not worthless, there was definitely some useful information, but it was NOT worth the several thousand dollars they charged. Unfortunately they got us early, before we knew enough high school parents who could warn us off. I guess others could have different experiences for different sports.

It dawned on me this morning that I have a friend who was recently a college scout (for a different sport), for several years. He said that he’ll help us :-).
