Recruitment Caps Impacting Teams

Recruitment caps strain teams | Yale Daily News

To me, the saddest part of this article was the admission that, between I assume equally-skilled athletes, the one who worked harder to present higher academics would be the one NOT supported to Admissions as a recruit, but left to try to get in on their own:

"Barbara Reinalda, head coach of softball, said the number of recruiting spots allotted to her team has also dropped over the last few years, from five to six slots per year to about four, depending on the number of players that graduate each year. She added that she does ask recruits with competitive grades to apply on their own so that she does not have to use one of her recruiting spots.

If you honestly believe that, it’s not too late to bomb your SAT II tests and increase your chances. Good luck!

Why would THE Yale Softball coach say exactly that and say she had done exactly that if it wasn;t true for her?

There are seven other Ivies that don’t share Mr. Levin’s view. Accept it for what it is and broaden your horizons. There are many other fine schools to play at where your abilities and contributions will be welcome.
