Arizona here (:
So, I will be out visiting Earlham College fromp april 2-4 so I might not be here if a mail arrives. Does anyone know how an “accepted” mail looks like???
When do they release!!! this is my last decision!!!
It includes a little confetti, copy of the Illiad, and a reed pencil, notebook, and sticker
Does someone know if Reed considers the home mortgage payments as an expense incurred? Or does Reed ignore the home mortgage payment? The reason I ask is because I want to know if they will factor it as an expense while computing my EFC.
@paradox510 April 1st decisions are mailed. If you are international, you can log onto your Admission tracker then.
@fencingchick How ??
Snail mail --> Domestic students, including internationals living in the USA.
Email --> International students, including US citizens living abroad.
The acceptance letter should come in a medium sized box, delivered by FedEx(so I’ve read, could be mistaken. If anyone else knows, please share). The packages should arrive Friday, April 1st.
The emails should also arrive on April 1st, towards the evening (7PM to 9PM)
AFAIK, mortgage payments are not considered; they are in the class of items considered lifestyle choice. Other items (like income and number of family members) being equal, how much to spend on mortgage (re house quality and size) is a choice, so no credit for a large mortgage (i.e., mortgage is ignored). AFAIK.
Parent of an accepted EDII student here. Accepted students will receive a book-sized box shipped via FedEx, rejected students are notified with an envelope via regular USPS. The boxes are all postmarked April 1, so some people will have to wait a few days to get theirs. We’re in New York and S didn’t get his til Feb 8 (they were fed-ex’d on Feb 1). Hopefully it won’t take as long for this batch to ship. The Reed Admissions Tumblr has a little more info on this. Good luck everyone!
We’re taking bets at my house as to the ‘when’ of notification.
I’m betting RD acceptances go out on Monday (3/28) with boxes via FedEx being received between the 29th and 1st. I’m not clairvoyant, but it just seems probable to me.
Postmarked by April 1st is the standard info on the Reed site, blog and Reddit, but looking back at Class of 2019 and others, it seems like that’s just to keep the masses from flooding the admissions email inbox with ‘Where is it?’ notes.
Hey everyone! I have a couple questions.
a) Will the decisions be emailed to international students BY the 1st of April or ON the 1st of April?
b) What time will the decisions be released? If any internationals who’ve already been accepted could tell us the time they received their acceptance emails in previous years or as an ED1 or ED2 applicant, it would be fantastic.
c) After reading last year’s thread, I learnt that Reed sent out emails to certain candidates on the 27th, are they planning on doing something similar this year as well?
d) Would Reed send early writes in previous years or was last year just a one off?
They send accepted students confetti AND a copy of the Iliad?
As far as from what I’ve read, they do. Reed also supposedly writes a wonderfully personal acceptance letter.
according to the Reed Admissions tumblr, accepted students get confetti, Reed-themed goods, and a complementary copy of the Iliad - all in a book-sized box!
Another clarification!
Did Reed have just the one supplementary essay (The Paideia one)?
I’m wondering because I’ve seen various ‘Why Reed?’ threads but I don’t recall ever seeing the option to fill out the essay on the common application
That was their old essay
@doesitmatter123 this is the first year with the Paideia prompt; before this year, it was the Why Reed? essay.
Wonder if they’ll send out early writes tomorrow
@BlackMagic81 Are you in Oregon?
