So the Reed prompt is something like this: For one week at the end of January, Reed students upend the traditional classroom hierarchy and teach classes about any topic they love, academic or otherwise. This week is known as Paideia after the Greek term signifying “education” – the complete education of mind, body and spirit. What would you teach that would contribute to the Reed community? (200 words minimum, 500 words maximum)
Basically, if you could teach a class on a subject, what would you pick and why?
I have a topic idea and a rough draft, but I feel like it’s too risky and might be confusing. I picked my favorite song and wrote about why it is my favorite song, what I think it means, and why I think everyone should listen to it. Is this a bad idea? What are other people thinking of doing?
