Reed vs. Swarthmore

swarthmore sorry

There are cliques everywhere and I think Reed has its clique of people who try to be difference by smoking and trying "working hard at being different" but there's also a clique of people who are very into the healthy Pacific Northwest hiking, biking, mountain climbing, eating healthy thing and wouldn't be caught dead (ahem) near a cigarette. It's a very diverse school and I think that's why many people are drawn to it after coming from very homogeneous high schools.

( er moking as in weed not camels)

Don’t be fooled by US News saying Swarthmore is the 3rd best Liberal Arts School in the Country, It’s probably number 2.
But number 1 is not williams, nor amherst, but indeed reed (this is solely my opinion)

If you look at the undergrad programs that were ranked “best noticed by graduate schools” the ranks go a little something like this…

Cal Tech

Harvey Mudd

Reed

Swarthmore

MIT

Carleton

Grinnell

Bryn Mawr

U Chicago

Oberlin

Reed is ranked #3 in the country (the Ivy league schools don’t come in til like the 20’s.)

*Reed may be the most intellectual school in the Country.
^^^ Completely opinionated.

PS… Look at Lawrence

These are all excellent schools. Grad schools won’t care a whit which of these you attended; they’ll care about what you did and your recommendations. Pick the one you can afford and like the best.
