Congrats to all semis! May your school be well endowed with research funds
I got all the badges but not semis…can those that got in post their stats just so I can see where I went wrong
@RMan how about you post your’s and then I can compare mine to yours
Does anyone have statistics from previous years about badges and if they have anything to do with getting finalists?
I pawed through 2015 data:
32 people with finalist badge, of those:
- 27 got the Research Report badge (84%)
- 14 got the Student Initiative Badge (44%)
- 4 didn’t list either badge (13%)
That year, a total of 369 people received the research report badge (7% finalists) and 137 received the student initial badge (10% finalists)
Are the badges meaningful awards? Like something worth putting on a resume?
I’m confused because on the badging website it says no one has any badges other than entrant. I know I got a badge because I’m a semifinalist. does the badge email say you got one but not actually let you claim it? also did everyone get notified that they got badges yesterday?
I think students were sent badge notifications by email and the badges will be officially awarded Jan 9th.
Regeneron sent emails in both badge emails saying that the badges will be visible on the 9th on your profile.
@stem1202 Seems pretty good to put on, doesn’t seem like many people get the badges.
I have to ask, how are other semifinalists updating colleges about the good news? Are you guys updating colleges at all? Thanks!
It says in the email that most college admission officers have been notified.
@AznDude525 — could you share what the email says about Regeneron giving info to colleges?
You will receive a package in the mail with a letter of congratulations, a voucher for your $2,000 award, and a certificate to provide to colleges and universities to verify this achievement. We have emailed your principal and also emailed admissions counselors across the country to let them know that you have been named a Regeneron STS scholar.
Does anyone here feel depressed from not making it to semifinals? Honest opinion please.
Also, what’s the significance of the badges?
@beholdsehkhaveer Based on past data, around 20% get the research report badge and 10% get the student initiative badge, so I think the badges are relatively significant.
it still sucks, with all the hard work I put into the project just to get badges that some semifinalists didn’t even get
Does anyone here know if calls will be made ahead of time for finalist status? If so when?
In years past phone calls were made the night before around 5 pm or so, per previous years Intel STS thread
Good luck y’all!!!
