<p>For last participtants, how did you guys acutally get started on entering ISEF? I know that most of the time you have to go through the local regional science fair, but do they just nominate you there? or what acutally happens?</p>
<p>No one at my high school has done this before, so I am really unsure about the details and it would be nice to know what could/would happen. </p>

<p>I won 1st in my high school science fair, which sent me to regionals. I won the grand prize at regionals, which sent me to ISEF. </p>
<p>Alternatively, I know people (from the group from my region) who won 1st in their category at regionals, which allowed them to go to the state fair, where they won something big enough to allow them to go to ISEF. I want to say 1st in category at a state fair, but since I didn't even go (crew regatta was that Saturday) I can't tell you for sure.</p>
<p>ok so I get it, ISEF is like invitation only? kind of haha</p>
