Registration/Teachers

I was wondering when you sign up for classes do you get to also choose the teachers that you want for those classes?

I heard with a few general classes at tech, getting the right teacher makes a difference.

Is there a way to make sure I get the teacher i want? If i cant choose a teacher during registration can i talk to my counselor or advisor or someone to help me get a schedule change?

If you have access to buzzport, you can see your class schedules which should have the names of teachers listed on them. If not, it will be marked as TBD or To Be Determined.

Also FYI you will never be able to see MATH professors during registration.

IE (Industrial Engineering) major at Georgia Tech:
My son is a current freshman IE at GT, and needs to take an EAS (Earth and Atmospheric Science) class for his lab science requirements. The choices are 1600, 1601, or 2600. I read that both professors that teach EAS1600 and EAS1601 are evil (Huey and St. John) and that St. John is the most evil professor at GT - which is saying a lot. I can’t find any reviews about the two professors that teach 2600 (Grantham for summer 2013 and Newman for fall 2013) and would like to know about them and about how the difficulty of EAS2600 compares to the difficulty of 1600 and 1601. My son is not a science person - especially not a physics person - so am trying to find the best (easiest) option.

IE (Industrial Engineering) major at Georgia Tech:
My son is a current freshman IE at GT, and needs to take his first computer science class. Which beginner CS class is the best option for an IE major?

A lot of times, it’s hit or miss. Sometimes everyone will say good things about a professor that you may not agree with. Sometimes people will trash on a professor but you don’t really find it that bad. If you put forth effort it typically isn’t a big deal though.
For CS, there are 3 required classes, it’s CS1301, CS(i forgot the number), and CS4400. CS1301 is a prereq for the other 2 classes, so he would have to take that first regardless.
