Registration-transfer

Will professors let you join a class if the class is full? Especially, if its for your major?

@arce96 :
What major are you? Some are more stringent with enrollment than others, but for most it depends on whether it is a intro/intermediate core course or an elective/advanced core. They are more likely to overload a major into an intro./intermediate core course.

@arce96 are you already allowed to register?

@bernie12 Chem. I was trying to get organic chem. Bernie have you taken chem 226L? Or do you know anything about it.

@Attransfer2016 No, admissions told me that the transfer reports should be in next week and we register in august. However, last year transfers were allowed to register beginning June 1

@arce96 : Dr. Soria or Dr. Weinschenk will certainly take a transfer (chances are better in Soria as his enrollment declines some before the school year starts) after they fill and I really don’t recommend the others (either of those two will prep you for the instructors coming second semester which include both of them and McGill and McDonald, both far more challenging than the other 221 instructors…the other 221 instructors will essentially underprep you). And yes, I took 226-L, but I fear it may only be for freshman this upcoming year, but you may want to contact Dr. Soria and ask. It is like a different version of ochem lab that is easier on the grade but more challenging in terms of the theory and level of engagement expected. Dr. Soria’s lab is more inquiry based and not cookbook. If you get no or strange results in that lab then “oh well”, whereas 221/222-L expects you to get the “right” result. Depending on where you came from (actually regardless of where you came from), expect a challenge, but both are quite the personalities and run their classes in enjoyable ways if you buy into what they are trying to do. Both make ochem a fun, challenging experience in their own, very different ways. A great way to start science at Emory.

@bernie12 how about the Chem 260. Could I squeeze my way into that ? Or would I have to wait till next semester to take it.

@arce96 : At Emory, just contact the instructor (Weaver) and ask. They will initially tell you to wait for Add/drop/swap, but they may tell you that they are willing to overload if it never opens.
