What do you know now about the University of Chicago that you wish that you had known as a prospective student?

1) That I would become really close with my housemates and my Resident Heads. I kind of figured I would live and die by school, but instead we're going on trips downtown, cooking for study breaks, and playing soccer on the midway.

2) That students here are absolutely bonkers-smart and other students might be intimidating at first... but you'll realize how nice and how cool they are and you'll come to love them. (WHAT? FRIENDLY PEOPLE AT THE U OF C?)

3) Thermal underwear, tea, and the fireplaces in the Reynolds Club make everything better.

4) There will be enough gossip and drama to fuel two seasons of Grey's Anatomy, but it's best to stay out of it.

5) It's really, really okay that you didn't finish all the reading.

How about bad things...???

(hijack!)

1) It would be nice to go out wandering by myself at night-- one of the drawbacks of living in a city is having to use common sense.

2) Realize that you might hate one of your core classes and wish you could drop it (this is the story of me and my sosc core) but that you'll learn to find a way to deal with it and you'll in the end be happy that you were exposed to it.

I second #2.

Also, Gen Chem is hell. A lot of people who take it got 5's on the AP Chem exam decide to take the lowest Chemistry class they can. They set off the curve. It sucks.
