Regular decision class of 2018

I saw there was new information when I logged on hoping some of you had heard today.

Oh well. JMU must really appreciate people with patience. Maybe that is why it seems to be the friendliest campus in VA.

what new information did you see today @notreadymom?

Not new information…just new posts here.

Ha Ha…I like that answer “it should be the end of March, definitely by April” Really?? When else did we think it would be…lol :)

Why do they do this to us? Basically every other school in Virginia released their admissions besides JMU. On a side note, where did everyone else apply too? I applied to UDel, URI, Virginia Tech and Rutgers and got into all of them.

@Mustang73 if I don’t get into JMU I’m going to Towson. I got into Uri as well!

Besides from JMU, I applied to George Mason (Accepted), American University (Accepted), Georgia State University (Accepted), and BU (Denied). JMU is my last college, and the wait is getting pretty frustrating.

Do they only release decisions after 5PM?

Cooley, It could theoretically be any time of day. I believe someone mentioned last year they got the EA decisions at 10AM.

Last year as late as 10pm

Honestly I’d expect it to be within 7-10 pm because they would spend most of the work day finalizing and making sure everything was ready to post with no errors

I seriously hope it comes out today. I can’t wait any longer

I wouldn’t hold your breath. I expect this to be more like the end of the week at this point :(

Earlier post said since 2006 only once did it come out as late as the 25th- my luck it will come out 3/31 this year :frowning: cant take 7 more days of this!

I should say that some of those earlier years they were still sending letters out. I went back and checked on that today. So don’t put any weight on those earlier years the dates were the days that people were actually receiving notification.

My guess is the volume of applicants has them really pushed to the limits. That and the number of snow days this winter.

Hopefully we will know soon. As a parent I’m ready for this part of the process to be done so we can all get to the nuts and bolts of making plans.

This is just pure conjecture, but it seems like at least at our (in state NoVA) HS, VT accepted more this year than other years. Some kids I know who in past years I’m pretty sure would have been denied at VT, got in this year and VT was their “reach” school. Unfortunately my DD did not but many of her friends did. So my point is that perhaps JMU was waiting to see what VT did this year in terms of numbers, and then making their offers, since more or less VT is higher in the pecking order than JMU. Some kids who thought they were JMU-bound now are going to VT instead, perhaps opening up spots for kids like mine!

@ccawealthofinfo, I actually had the opposite experience as your daughter/son, I got into JMU early, as did some of my friends, and almost everyone at my school who applied to VT got deferred and wait listed. We’re in NOVA

Ahh, this is driving me crazy! I applied here as a transfer student, as well as VT (accepted) and GMU (haven’t heard from them yet but this was my just in case school). Hopefully it’ll be posted tomorrow or Wednesday!

@chillerbee GMU has been incredibly inconsistent with their admissions/financial aid this year, to the point where I no longer want to go there. I was accepted to GMU back in February, but people like you still have not heard.

Same thing with their scholarship application, it was originally supposed to come out on Monday, March 17th, now it simply says, “coming soon” Its really not a good sign for a college if they cannot get their admissions/financial aid right, and out on a consistent time. At least JMU is consistently taking a while to release decisions for everyone.

@ctorch Yeah, I have a friend who was accepted about 2 weeks ago and I assumed it meant I wasn’t going to get in there, and since I considered that my “fall-back” school I was freaking out. I’ve also had to send in the same financial aid stuff twice because the first one was “lost”, which is a bit disconcerting. Vastly different from my experience with both JMU and VT. No issues at all with either of them.
