We’re not going to accept the freakin’ $40,000 per year LOAN offer, so somebody will get my D’s spot.

@pcaz
They did same on my acceptance letter.Does that mean i will get good financial aid?I am international student.My aid things is not declared yet.

@mommymommy - I’d go with appealing the decision. Some people who get high aid don’t attend and that frees up more aid.

@daylight - yes. It is sent out in phases but the phases are really close to each otherand in no order. You should be hearing ASAP. And everyone, appeal for more aid as some people with high aid may not accept their position, which in turn frees up more aid.

Crazysah: Thanks.

I ve got nothing and this gonna kill me…

@crazysah thanks so much for the response! Definitely eased my fears. Hopefully I’ll hear back today…

@rocker2: Congrats on your acceptance! Unfortunately, I don’t think the personalized note on the acceptance letter is in any way tied to financial aid; I believe all accepted students received this. My S also received his FA award together with his acceptance, but it sounds like you haven’t received your FA yet.

I’m not sure how FA works for international students, but in the US, it revolves around the EFC (expected family contribution), which is based on a family’s ability to pay. Hope it all works out for you!

My daughter was wait listed also. She is fine with it, she had already made her mind up to attend another school that gave her great FA. I honestly don’t believe it would have been a good fit for her, and I wonder if they knew that. I think she is better suited in a more traditional type of school than SLC is, and I mean nothing bad about SLC, obviously we love the school. My daughter who is just beginning high school next year would be an excellent fit there. She is artsy, creative, dramatic, and a little different. Has her own style. But my D who applied to SLC is the opposite of all of those things. When my MIL took her tour the school last year she even told me “I don’t think this is the place for her…but I see (D2) here”. So I think it all worked out for the best. She was a little sad, this was her first pick. She knew it was going to be difficult to make it work though, even if they offered her a great FA offer, even then, it would have been difficult to make it work. So we are now all done, decided, and she could not be happier. Good luck to all of you that made it into SLC, and the ones that didn’t, I hope you will find happiness wherever you go.

@pcaz…Thanks!

I still haven’t heard back. Granted, I live in Switzerland, but I contacted them a week ago and have not gotten a reply. Pretty unprofessional, if you ask me. Luckily I got into my other schools, so I’m not waiting on SLC, but if I was still seriously considering SLC, this would have put me off. My Easter break ends in a week, so even if I wanted to I wouldn’t have been able to visit the school. I’m terribly unimpressed, to be honest.

Okay so I still haven’t heard back… Called there earlier and still do not understand why my application has not been processed. Is there any way of getting my application fee back? Because they literally have not processed my file yet, according to the woman on the phone.
Definitely no longer considering Sarah Lawrence as an option.

This is sounding pretty typical of what you read about SLC. I have read many reviews on college ******* and other places and heard that the administration is pretty unorganized. I think in your case, since they didn’t even apparently process your application they should give you your money back, but I wouldn’t hold my breath.

Well, we’re definitely letting go of our spot. We appealed financial aid decision and they came back with a couple thousand more in grant aid: a scenario that added up to going six figures into debt for a BA in Liberal Arts. Good riddance, Sarah Lawrence College.
