DS just got an email from Whitman. So very happy because he's been accepted!

Mine too. He is very happy.

Congratulations to S’s of pacnwmomof2 and themommymommy!! Whitman is a GREAT school.

D got one too, whew! We’re all excited/relieved!

My D got in too! We were super excited because after she visited Whitman this fall, it became the school against which she is measuring all other schools!

Are they only sending acceptances by email? I haven’t gotten one. :(

I got in as well! So excited, but may not necessarily go depending on financial needs.

And they’re sending out emails, but they just mailed the notifications yesterday, so they should be coming next week. You can check https://webadvisor.whitman.edu/WebAdvisor/WebAdvisor?type=M&constituency=WBAP&pid=CORE-WBAP&TOKENIDX=6906435905

and log in, and click admission status. It changed from “complete” to “admitted” for me.

Ugh, I am so tired of getting waitlisted. And I thought I had such a good chance here, too.

This might sound silly, but how do I log in? I never received an email concerning either a username or password. I guess I could just wait a few days, but I would obviously prefer to know now!

S2 did not get the golden email, so I went to bed thinking he was rejected or wait listed. This morning, taking another poster’s advice, we checked his online account. Which says “Admitted Spring”. Can we officially celebrate?

If you have not already received instructions on setting up access to a prospective student portal, then you’ll have to call the admissions office for directions. Maybe it’s open right now, since it’s the height of the admissions season they may be open on a Saturday morning.

Sunmachine, congratulations, sounds like a go to me! There are a number of students that are admitted but asked to start in January instead of September, thus Spring admits. People respond to this news in various ways, but there have been discussions I’ve read where Spring admits discuss what it was like. Here are links to a couple: http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/whitman-college/673815-spring-admission.html

Best wishes.

Oops, here’s the second link: http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/whitman-college/684073-interesting-acceptance.html

Sorry to keep jumping back in, but there is evidence that some Spring acceptances turn into Fall acceptances as the class shapes up in April and May.

I got the e-mail yesterday evening

Does anyone know when notification about merit scholarships will be available? If I had received a merit scholarship, do you think that would have been in the e-mail?

@cookiemonster

If you receive a merit scholarship, you’ll likely be notified of it when you receive your financial aid package in the mail. I got my package today but I didn’t receive an email like I did for my acceptance letter.

Thanks, bopambo, those links were helpful. The decision process has gotten more interesting. We’ll see what arrives in the mail.

Just when you’re expecting the uncertainty to end, the last thing anyone wants is a more “interesting” decision process. I hope the mail brings you the kind of news you want. Although I think Whitman is a very special place, I know your son has several good choices.

I found a couple Whitman Pioneer articles about “Jan starts”. I think I remember your son is an athlete, one of them talks about Jan start athletes joining their teams. The type has some strange glitches but can be deciphered. http://whitmanpioneer.com/feature/2012/02/02/jan-starts-overcome-awkward-transition-find-community/

Ok, now I’ll go back to my own life

Congratulations to all!

Cookiemonster 9 - Merit information showed up in the mail today. Good luck!
