Rejected GT

My son just received his rejection from GT engineering

GPA: 3.9 unweighted
AP Classes (Score): Physics (5), Statistics (5), AP Calculus (Fall ’18) English Language and Composition (4), US History (3),
SAT: 1510 Composite (800 Math, 710 English) - one attempt
SAT Subjects Tests (Score): Math Level 2 (800)
Biliteracy Diploma, LAX varsity, State piano Diploma

what a bummer. I really thought he was a good match. Not even a deferral…

in state or out of state. Out of State had around 14% admittance rate. BTW GT really considers the supplemental essays. from what I understand

out of state. 14% explains it probably.

@rndname02 Sorry to bother you again, but what major did he mention in his GaTech application?
Apparently checking the box that a student will go to summer school at GaTech before freshman year ups chances for those that are reading this next year. Of course that means paying for an extra summer, which may or may not result in a semester early graduation date, it can. GaTech offers two graduations a year, December and May.

It’s a hard one - don’t feel bad. Take the attitude that it’s their loss and there are better fish in the sea. My heart goes out to all the kids who have worked so hard and are clearly qualified but just not “chosen.”
