Rice is my dream school… I was rejected the first year and now I go to WM… Applied transferring as a Freshman and rejected again. I just paid my deposit to Vanderbilt last week. Still, I think about Rice all the time… Don’t know if it’s even worth appealing after two rejections? I know I am not applying the third time…Not very happy about this recently…
Rice is a baseball school. In baseball, it’s 3 strikes and your out. You only have 2 strikes! Why not appeal?
I just want to say I was rejected twice by Rice as well. Flat out rejected out of high school, waitlisted then rejected after one year at CWRU. It took me three tries to get in and I just had one of my greatest school years at Rice.
Moral of the story (other than I sound very arrogant): rejection sucks, but it’s nowhere near as worse as giving up on something you want really badly.Whether you decide to appeal or do end up applying for the third time, I hope you continue your pursuit, even if just for mental solace. Best of luck.
Rice flatout rejected u twice. Not even a WL. I think they’re trying to tell u something. Why beat yourself up over this, ESPECIALLY when u have an arguably much more appealing option, vandy.
^I agree with what’s above. I go here currently. Don’t stress over it too much, everyone always ends up loving whatever place they end up.
Get over it & move on. I went to a college fair at UTPA & approached the Rice table for transfer info. The lady was rude & told me something about how Rice admits so very few transfers etc. I told her I was aware & wanted the brochure/flyer with transfer info. She turned around & started talking to a high schooler who didn’t even know what Rice was. How’s that for being rejected? Real in your face rejection.
To be honest, I would just go on and enjoy Vanderbilt. They are roughly equal academically and Nashville is a great city. Sometimes when you are always looking for something different, you ignore the good things about the things around you. You mentioned in another post you wanted more diversity. Well Vanderbilt is likely to have more diversity than a state school like WM, but you have to give the place a chance
