Rejected =/

Laurak, I'm in the exact same position as you. I've been talking about how I wanted to finally get out of southern Cali. Only I get rejected or waitlisted from the many schools I applied to on the east coast. Looks like it's either UCLA or UCB for me.

Ugh, I'm so sorry about that sunkist. UCLA's the 'best' school I've gotten into, and I'm contemplating appealing Berkeley but I'm not sure if it's worth it. It would only remind me of Stanford (which I'm sure to also be rejected by). There's a bit of a literary scene in L.A., so it's not a total loss, but I'm still upset. I see a transfer in my future.

Good luck, though. I'm sure you'll do fine.

oh well...everything happens for a reason

i hope everyone got good results from other colleges. brown was a top choice, and i got rejected from almost everywhere else too oh well... Columbia '09! =)

we'll all make our colleges the best someday and make brown worse than our local community colleges!!!! (lol jk)

add me to the rejected pile.... sadly...

cheer up, laurak... UCLA is a great school and you still have three schools to hear from. good luck with them. :)

I've dealt with five, yes, FIVE, rejections today within two hours. i'm going insane. just waiting for uchicago (my first love!), which i think will come tomorrow.

even though brown has rejected us, i'm sure we'll all find our niche somewhere... good luck making your final decisions.

brown rejects '09 yeah!

Yep, rejected here too. :(

I think I'm going to try to transfer.

sorry to hear that calidan. i know that u really love brown. good luck making your final decision.

calidan.... I think hearing your news upset me more than anything else today. You are such a great guy. Brown absolutely made a mistake in not taking you, especially considering how much you love Brown.

Please keep posting on this board though, because you bring so much energy and enthusiasm with you.

Georgetown is very lucky to have you.

...But you'd better transfer!!

P.S. calidan, and everyone else on this board, feel free to im me at strawberrymunky4 (It's really dorky, I know. :o) I'd love to chat with you guys!!

Thanks tashi. I really would like to transfer since Brown is still my dream, so we'll see. :)

Oh and thanks, funky!! I think I will continue to contribute to the boards, just not as much. Congrats again everyone!

So sorry you didn't get in. I didn't get accepted either.

calidan, I'm sorry to hear about your rejection, but I just hope that whichever school you go to that you give it a fair shot before expressing your desires to transfer. :)

Here's my week...

Monday- Rejected georetown
Thursday- Rejected Harvard, UPenn, Brown

So much for my top choices... I figured with my stats I'd get into at least one. This is probably the most disappointing day of my life... only Princeton left and that is a 100% sure rejection. Choice is now between Boston College and Villanova... my 6th and 7th choices. ::sigh::

rejected.....waitlisted at columbia. brown sucks. screw brown

leaps on to pile
ehh. i got emory and rice.. thats okay right? riiighht???

it said 1 in 12 got in... since when was browns acc. rate 8%????

congrats on rice, rani. i wish i got in...anyway, good luck everyone at where you eventually end up. i'm definitely thinking about transfering.

no thats 1/12 projected freshman/applicant ration

some people get into lesser schools like hahhhhhhhhvahd and idiotically decide to attend over brown

I sent in by far my worst application to brown. I put in about 20 minutes of work into the whole application changing a couple of old essays around and writing a new Brown-specific one in 10 minutes or so. My application had about 3 typos and was missing my AP Scholar Award with Distinction award. I submitted it 22 minutes after the deadline online.

Heres how i fared according to my estimates

stanford - deferred - total time put into app: ~4 hours
pennsylvania - waitlisted - total time put into app: ~6 hours
duke - rejected - ~4 hours (essay about how much i hate d00k bball)
gtown - accepted ~1 hour
brown - accepted ~ 20 minutes
bucknell - likely ~ 15 minutes
unc - accepted ~ 10 minutes
umd - accepted ~ 1 hour

i just thought this is great... my most "awesome" applications/essays didnt get me anything, when the most half-assed stuff got me into college.

If you want to follow my trend, make sure not to do the Half-Ass approach when it comes to financial aid... i have no awards as of yet because im missing documents everywhere.

Well that makes us rejects feel real good.

Juuuust kidding! Congrats.

well, so the trick is...spend twenty minutes on your essays! dang. i shoulda known that!!! ;)

I'm warming up to my second choice school (which I was d a m n lucky and grateful to have gotten into), I just hope the students there are as fun and quirky as you folks are! :)
