I was rejected by the point park mt and acting program. I also auditioned at Roosevelt Hartt and montclair... Does anyone know if it is easier to be accepted into point park's program, therefore if you didn't get accepted there it is less possible for you to be accepted at the the more selective schools? I have no idea if point park is actually the least selective of the schools I auditioned for, I guessed I just assume that because I heard point park is going to take like 25 new students for their incoming class, which seems to be a bit bigger than the other schools? I don't know just going crazy over here!

one has no relation to the other, sarfran, none. You could be rejected for Point Park and get into Julliard tomorrow.

Does the Tufts Syndrome apply to MT programs (yield protection)? In other words do some schools reject kids b/c they assume they will end up at a “better” school? Or does that only happen in the non-MT college world?

I do not believe one has to do with the other AT all. Your rejection could have been due to many factors. Maybe your audition didn’t go well that particular day, maybe you’re a brunette belter who’s strong suit is dramatic monologues and they already have 3 of those. It is completely possible to be rejected from PPU and get into a school like CMU. You really never know what they are thinking. Also, PPU isn’t as easy to get into as people think. Yes, they accept about 45-60 people but think about the thousand that apply. PPU does tend to accept more than other schools, but it is still extremely competitive when you take into consideration how many students audition on their MANY MANY audition dates.

Just because you didn’t get into Point Park doesn’t mean you won’t get into any other school. I agree with AthenaL, your audition may have not gone as well!
I know people that’s been rejected from less selective schools and got into CCM. I’d say it’s a lot to do with luck.
Everythings out of your control now - just let them decide. And wherever you end up - I’m sure it’ll be the perfect fit for you!

my friend got into elon, penn state, mich, and ithaca and waitlisted at point park.
