I’m SO terrified that I’m going to get rejected from all the schools I apply to. I’m scared that I’m going to fill out the common app info wrong, or forget to submit FAFSA, or not do CSS (WHAT IS THAT :0), or forget to submit my SAT scores, or something, and just get rejected from every single school (or not even get a chance for them to review my app b/c I didn’t meet the requirements).
This is very rare. I have never met or talked to anyone that this has happened to. In the cases that I have heard of this happening, it was mostly caused by the student only applying to reaches, such as strong students who only applied to Ivy League schools. I have also heard of a few cases where a student only applied to what you might call an “economic reach”, specifically schools where they expected to get in but didn’t pay attention to whether they would be able to afford the full cost for four years.
I used to know someone, specifically a guitar teacher, who had started at a very good well known college of music at full pay, ran out of money after two years, and then had to transfer to an in-state public university that they could afford. This set them back quite a bit because most of their credits did not transfer.
If you have applied to good safety schools, and if you have paid attention to the cost of your education, then you will be fine. Many students are nervous right now, but many students will be a lot less nervous in a few weeks or in a few months when the acceptances come in.
As long as you have applied wisely to a mix of reach, match, and safety schools that appear affordable and that you would be happy to attend then things should turn out just fine.
Yeah I agree with both of these guys. As long as you had a wide range of safety, target, and reach school’s, you should be fine. You want to apply to some safety schools because of you don’t get in those target schools, you have something to fall back on. Also, for these safety schools, I strongly recommend a cheap school unless your parents will pay for all of your college costs. If your parents will cover the costs, I wouldn’t choose the most expensive just so they would pay a lot.
Do you have two affordable safeties you like? (Read about in Fiske and niche and ran the NPC on?)
3-5 matches with an acceptance rate of 40%+?
Have a checklist?
Check your portal weekly for the Universities you applied to EA/ED?
Then, you’re good.
I bet you are doing just fine! You may not get into your dream college, but likely a college that you would be satisfied with! Also, there is such thing as “Regular Decision”
Make sure to apply to an in-state school to try for a lower tuition and make sure to apply to one school that’s like really below you just in case. The lesser known schools usually don’t have an extra essay or anything, so it’s not much work to apply.
