IUB=Indiana U at Bloomington?

Apparently they do offer a few merit scholarships to internationals. I know a student who was awarded a scholarship this year (about half tuition renewable for 4 years). Kinda surprised.

no....the iub everyone's talking around here is international university of bremen, germany :)

Thanks Rishabh and enilit. During this awful period is only here that I find some consolation. You're great, all of you. I've got only one word of advice. Show WILL go on.

@ templerofsteel (enit) hik mer torre muti, mire qe shkru karlliqe po pastaj shkru nje nga titujt e kengeve te fredi merkur (nga ardi).... dhe nga une gjithashtu

(quote of the year "you're great alll of you") Ah, dont mind not understanding anythin i was talking with my friend Templer of still in my own language. Ardi, Olsi, Eni class of 2010 AUBG (read UBG)

hajt se ta tregoj un vitin tjeter te AUBG bythqir i mutit and go take a freaking english course. :)

hej templer of steal, i know that our sat cr scores aren't comparable at all, but mine 560 + ardi's 620 > then ur miserly 680... bythqir.. hahaha. ti do shkosh te IUB po nejse

Hey, I know how you're feeling and am really sorry about it all (I also got 5 rejections in a row that night Mar 31) But knowing you all to be smart and brave (enough to go ahead and apply in the first place;)) I'm dead sure you'll shine at whichever college at your country that you go to (assuming you already got wise and decide to free yourself of the crapshoot that's US college admission):) Do settle down and in the next three months you'll have forgotten about it all and start enjoying yourself:)

miaoling: Indeed! :p I've started liking M'sian public uni's, heh. But the application (to US) was a good 'exercise.' Never written so many essays in such a short span of time before. :)

Enilit: Indeed! :p I churned out like 12 essays on the night of Dec 31 alone:D And it used to take me all of two weeks to do that commonapp essay. To look on the bright side I learned so much about i) US History (oh the SAT II nights...) and ii) myself:D (ever noticed how much reflection and introspection you did throughout the season?) And all that SAT vocabulary and prep stuff will help you anyway. Who knows, you may end up taking away the grand prize in a trivia game show with that stuff;)

Hmm I applied to Upenn and they emailed me if i wanted to be taken off the fin aid list.. didnt knew they were not aid-blind.. i wonder what would have happened if i requested for them to take me off the fin aid list..

^^ yeah :D i didnt knew i could self study 3 subjects (Maths II, Chem and Phys) even though my syllabus in highschool hasnt reached there yet, in less than 5 weeks and still score excellent results... lol (so i'm testing my abilities now by self studying AP, yes i'm really bored)

but really, the whole experience in applying for these universities really gave a deeper insight into who I am and actually helped me determine which engineering field i really wanted to go to :D (and ofcourse the essays too!)

But all is well for me, :D cause I still get to apply again at the end of this year ;) I think I'm going to reject the other unis that reject me because they dont offer fin aid. (after all I applied to them for free... during educational fairs)

hmm no package from princeton today...so i obviously didnt get in

hey dont be so sure....see what happens....

rejected by princeton

yep i got my rejection letter from princeton, and a waitlist email from williams, which im going to take my name off.
thats the end of my applications journey

hey have you noticed that approximately half of the international were rejected by every university they applied to (i'm talking about the us uni). how is this possible. when i started this "journey" (as jay said it) i had no idea how difficult and stressful it would be. And what teases me even more is that it turned ou to be fruitless. i still wonder how this could be possble

no idea my friend . .

jay - why are you taking your name off the waitlist ?

infact im putting all my energies into converting my amherst and middlebury waitlists into acceptances . . especially the amherst waitlist . . im really keen on that.

Bump Rishabh. I'm doing the same thing for my VOMiT waitlists.

Don't get your name off, jay! Fight the good fight!

@Olsi: Well, yeah, very few of us actually knew of the risks involved, but look at the bright side: we've emerged stronger and more knowledgeable of the ways of the world. Which should make us better college and graduate applicants. Dang the colleges that didn't accept you.. show them they missed something!

Rejected from 11 colleges
princeton deferred and then rejected me.
cornell accepted me but they wont give me any money.
i seriously dont know what to do:(

I'm in similar situation, sl1201. My American dream is over. Hahaha. Probably it's not realistic after all.

im taking my name off the waitlist cuz i dont feel like going to williams anymore...im having to stay where i am in melbourne doing law...
