Hi! I am not very religious, will religion be forced down my throat at Fordham? I know I need to take theology courses, but do I get to choose what religions I study? I mean, if I have to study religions, I'd rather just study the ones that interest me. Get some info. Help!!

No, religion will not be forced down your throat. You can pick which one you wish to study. Fordham is run by the Jesuits, which means it's liberal and open. You won't find very many religious fanatics there.

and you have a great choice for a WIDE variety of theology courses, including comparative religion, islam, byzantine theology, and such. They are all intro courses anyway and an overview and presented NOT from a doctrinal point of view, but a historical and analytical point of view...a great way to LEARN something. Religion majors do well at Fordham as its a great place to study that subject, but its not forced upon anyone.

Fordham is 40 percent non Catholic.

ok thanks guys. From what you say, it doesn't seem that bad. I'd actually be interested in some of those courses. How are the sciences in the undergrad department? how about economics? thanks again.

Fordham is also very strong in the sciences and also economics. They have doctoral programs as well. They own their own biological station. And they have a signed agreement with the New York Botanical Gardens (next door) and the Bronx Zoo (also next door), to share programs and professors.

They also offer a degree in International Political Economy...which combines economics, political science and international relations.

They have a "campus" at the University of London. The Jesuits operate one of the "colleges" of the University of London (British universities are in fact a consortium of smaller colleges), and you can go over there to study at the London School of Economics, part of the University of London as well.

wow that actually sounds fantastic. I'm visiting first hand myself tomorrow. I'll ask them personally too!

Good...go get em, man! Have fun.
