Why are you joining a religion that discourages what you want to do with your future? I am just curious. Converting to a religion is serious, I know that from personal experience, and with my decision, there was a lot I disagree with, but to use that as an excuse for difficulty isn't really smart. I am not trying to discourage you from your path, just asking a personal question you do not need to answer to me at all, because my asking was kid of rude, but couldn't help wondering. It is great that you have this passion and this calling to something greater than yourself. That is rare in young people these days

The TIME factor involved is a different issue altogether. But, remember, this is your choice, and if you feel the need to explain the change in course (which is fine by the way) do it

How long are you required to take the 5 day a week classes, what grade are you in now and where are you looking to go to school? And are the classes pretty much classroom stuff, or do you go out and do things, i am thinking of Morman Missionaries, who travel, etc.

wait - so like...the ridiculous people who used to knock on the door at my home trying to convert me and everyone else who doesn't care actually got through to someone?

My advice to you is to reconsider being a Jehovah Witness, I myself am a Christian, a Catholic. Catholicism goes all the way back to Christ himself, and it isn't a crazy sect that discourages higher education.

Think - does God really want me to not go on to higher education? Will a life of hard-work and lowpay bring me any closer to God?

Many successful Catholics I know find it better to do what God is calling you to do, and if it involves making tons of money ( i.e. Business or Medicine ) use your money well, don't hoard it - give it to charities or start a way to give back to the community)

I think you seriously need to re-evaluate your religious choices if your choosing a religion that wants you to be unsuccessful your whole life and discourages higher education. I know a few ex-Jehovah Witnesses who became Catholics, and one who became Lutheran, and they claimed Jehovah Witness is more like a cult, and was the most harmful thing that ever happened to their spiritual life.

Just my input. In the end it's up to you.
Mike

I'm not trying to persuade him to become Catholic, I think any type of Christianity is better then Jehovah's Witnesses, even Mormons are 100 times better.

It all makes sense now. My good friend is a Jehovah's Witness and she's the best writer I've ever met. Her work has been published in some review in London, etc. But she isn't going to college. She kept making excuses, like it was too expensive.. But I understand now..

you should actually all convert to the church of gleech-worship.

but seriously, let's not turn this into a war of whose religion is better. mostly because it's gleech-worship and the point is moot, but also because this is a college board and he's looking for admissions advice, not religious guidance. he's already getting that. (5 days a week, i might add; the church of gleech meets only once a month but you get every tuesday off because nobody wants to go to work/school on tuesdays)

yeah, I believe the common app has a place to explain your extra-cirriculars, and you can use it to explain your appearant lack thereof. talking about your faith, especially because it is somewhat unique, would make a much more interesting paper than one about going to france and being amazed that french people aren't american people.

religion isn't considered the way race is in terms of AA.

good question... my friend was wondering does being a muslim affect your college decsion... you know its very hard for a muslim after the incident in the world trade center
