Is the Jesuit religion oppressive at BC or is it just an affiliation with the school. BC a great school just wondering what this looked like on campus.

Not oppressive at all. I’m not religious, and have not felt uncomfortable at all while being here. Religion and religious activities are most certainly available for those who want to partake, but you do not have to. It’s not like you’ll be left out if you don’t, I only know a few people who actually go to mass on Sundays, etc. The only way you will HAVE to interact with some sort of religion, is through the two required theology classes in the university core curriculum.

Thanks this helps a lot

Don’t worry, no one is going to try to force their religion on you. As long as you are not interest in pre-marital sex or other sins you will be fine. Good luck!

Dunno what RisingChemist is talking about, maybe just trying to be humorous? You won’t get in trouble for “sinning,” so long as the sinning isn’t actually illegal, etc.

If you caught having sex in dorms then that can actually warrant a meeting with your RD and administrators.

If you happen to get an extremely uptight RA, I guess that’s true. From what I’ve heard/seen, the chances of getting one of those is pretty small.

D is a Frosh. Says that if you want, you can find a party almost every night of the week. If anything, she has been taken aback by the lack of morality she has witnessed. I wouldn’t worry about “religious oppression” @ BC!
