Remember your first day in college?

What was going through your mind?Did you immediately get along with your roommate orwas at an awkward experience? And your first impressions of college life?

I remember moving in the first day. The fraternities from campus all pitched in to help move freshmen into their rooms since there was minimal curb parking space for families to dawdle around a bit. I arrived at the room at the same time as my roommate, and we seemed to hit it off alright. This was back before facebook existed, so all I had known before that was his name (which I wasn’t able to pronounce for the first two weeks). Later in the day, my parents left to drive home since it was a 5-6 hour drive. Found out about two hours after they left dinner that night was supposed to be a farewell dinner with your parents, so I was stuck wandering around an area I had only been in twice for an afternoon with no dining halls open and no idea what to do. I wound up bumping into the guy that lived in the next room over and we got dinner together since his parents did the same thing. We wound up becoming great friends and were roommates the following three years.

Other than being desperate for my parents to leave…I remember the guy with the large birdcage who was moving in at the same time.

Memories of my first day are tainted with fear. The reality of being so far away from my friends and family set in all of a sudden, and I was terrified I was never going to find my niche or my place at my school. I am happy to say that the opposite of such fears occurred, but I can still easily remember how panicked I was toward the beginning. I didn’t have the best start to college, that’s for sure. But now I could not be happier.

I was so excited! Everything seemed to work out really well. There was some awkwardness of course, but overall I felt like I got really lucky. My roommate and I clicked, we met a lot of people (who we never saw again lol), and we found parties.

Of course now I really dislike my roommate and I have moved to another dorm, but as first days go, I remember thinking how lucky I was.

My first day of class was not bad. It reminded me a lot of my first day of any of my high school years, but with more walking. I was way more concerned with making friends and stuff than really getting into my classes, lol.

My roommate had not arrived yet.
I was carried on people’s shoulders like a rock star because I was kicking ass at rock-paper-scissors.
I didn’t eat food because I couldn’t get my ID yet.

Overall was alright.

I do not like to look back on my move in day at college but enjoy so far my other memories. I didn’t really have anything going through my mind besides how nice it was to be attending a public ivy etc… My first impressions of college was the expected.

i’ll get back to you in give or take 4 to 5 months from now :D

My first day in college, I still lived with my parents. So it wasn’t a huge deal. First day living in a dorm was crazy…my roommate didn’t show up for another week, but we got along pretty well from the beginning.

Mine wasn’t too memorable, but I live with my parents so no dorm fun.
I was just really nervous and didn’t want to get lost. Haha
I had a high school friend who lived right next to the university and I went to her house between classes.

I was in a single room (by chance, not choice). I pretty much just set up my room the whole first day. It was nice out so I played some sand volleyball. I didn’t really know anyone yet so at night I watched the Packers’ preseason game alone in my room. Haha, overall I’d say it was a good day.

I desperately wanted to make friends quickly, I knocked on like everyone’s door on my floor and chilled with one of the girls on it. We had sex! Then I thought college would be nothing but parties and sex! but now I know that it isn’t unless I wanna fail :(

Awkward, unnerving, was annoyed that my best friend, who had come up a few days earlier for pre-o, already knew some people, but grateful that he was introducing them to me (in retrospect, it didn’t really matter since I’m only on friend terms with 2-3 of those people, and most of my friends ended up being from my floor or elsewhere). I do kinda miss the unstability of those days, now that things have settled down after these last few months (freshman year still). It was nice when no-one really had any ill-feeling towards anyone else, since basically no one knew each other. Kinda I wish I was more outgoing at that time, didn’t really start partying for a month or two.

I thought my suitemate was robbing me.

I came in the morning. My suitemate, Matt didn’t arrive till about 11 PM. At around noon, I talked briefly with Matt’s roommate before he had to leave to a cousin’s birthday party. He had already knew Matt, and he talked about him, and for some reason he gave me the impression that Matt was white. At around 11 PM, I come back to my dorm from playing baseball with some guys I met, and I see a huge black guy with no luggage, walking around the dorm, with the lights turned off. So I yell “***?!”, and I grab my bat, and starting swinging away at him. As I’m hitting him, he’s yelling “STOP IT! STOP IT! I LIVE HERE! I LIVE HERE!”. Long story short, he ended up at the hospital, and I ended up in the police station. Great times! He eventually got over what happened, and we became good friends. We tell this story all the time at parties.

^ LOL that’s hilarious

NJ Collegeboy-Seriously?lolz…

I’m only in my second semester but I already don’t remember!
