rensselaer and communications?

how is their communications program? i originally applied for engineering but i changed my major a couple of months ago. i actually find it quite funny that i got accepted because i totally forgot about the fact that i applied to this school lol. sorry to those who got rejected or waitlisted ;/. but i was wondering if their communications program is any good before i even consider going here. it seems to me that rensselaer is mainly an engineering school but i could be wrong. any takers?

My d is in EMAC (Electronic Media, Arts, and Communication) because she wanted the combination of arts and technology. She enjoys the program and is doing well. There is a real push in that direction now at RPI, but there is certainly a stigma about taking arts and humanities at a school known for engineering. I can see a need for tech schools to expand their curriculums because technology is being used everywhere. My d is a sophmore.

I was accepted for EMAC, but am now trying to figure out if this is the right place for me or if I should go to a more traditional art school like Pratt or a university with a good art program like Cincinnati. Looking more closely at the curriculum, I am worried about a year of calculus and biology-- not my best areas, although I really like art and technology. It seems like the math and science classes at a school like RPI would be super hard-- are they?

They have a separate calculus course for management, architecture and the humanities and they have an intro to biology. I am sure if you were good enough to be accepted you will do fine.
