Replacement for a Business Major

I am very interested in Dartmouth and I am wondering what a viable replacement would be for a business/finance major. I saw on the website that there are a significant percentage of grads going into financial services and I wanted to know what all of those students are majoring. Thanks!

Economics?

@TomSrOfBoston I thought about that but Dartmouth only gives out BA’s and – from what I have heard – a BA in economics lacks a lot of the math involved and that doesn’t seem very beneficial to me.

You really don’t need to be a business or finance major in order to go into either of those fields. The majority of Dartmouth students study something that interests them as undergrads and gain set of generally transferrable skills for finance/business (since those industries both don’t really require a specific set of technical skills). As a result, you’ll see any number of different types of majors go into finance. (That said a decent number of econ majors go into finance.) As far as business courses, Tuck (the business school at Dartmouth) offers three different courses to undergraduates and the DEN (Dartmouth’s Venture Incubator) hosts a number of experiential learning opportunities centered around entrepreneurship and business. So to answer your question–you could substitute just about any major at Dartmouth for business and finance (although some majors that are more quantitative may better prepare you for finance).

@dart18 thanks that was actually very helpful
