Reply date for international admitted students

Hey guys,

I have a question.

On all my admittance packages, it says that I should either "immediately confirm financial aid" or "immediately send the I-20 request form" (to get the student visa). However, the actual reply date (deadline) seems to be May 1st for everyone.

Does that mean I have to do the things mentioned above regardless of whether I will actually matriculate or is it simply a way for the university to try to speed things up a little? Does the May 1st reply date apply to everyone, regardless of nationality and potential financial need? Do I have to send anything to a college before matriculating/committing to it?

Any insight into this would be much appreciated.

Thanks,
Europeen

They are trying to speed things up because you have to get through the visa process and that takes time. As soon as you have made your decision, let them know. Don’t wait until May 1 unless you truly need all that time to decide.
