Reply date?

I got accepted into Rutgers, and the reply date is May 1. However, I'm still waiting to hear from other colleges, and I may not get all of the responses until as late as mid June.

To stay on the safe side, if I reply to Rutgers, can I later decide not to attend and accept the invitation to a different college? I've heard that this is possible; you just lose the initial fee. I want to be sure before I do so.

Also, is there any way to get an extension? It seems pretty ridiculous that the reply date is so early.

Yes, you need to put in a deposit for another school before May 1st, even if you really want to still get in somewhere else (I presume off a waiting list).

You will simply forfeit your deposit to Rutgers if you get in somewhere else and choose to go there.

I’m still waiting from the University of Michigan-ann arbor! But i already deposited my fee at rutgers. If I get into Michigan then i’ll screw rutgers but loose the $150 deposit fee. I say go for it.
