Reporting someone who admitted to lying

How did you become aware of her claims?

She had a very detailed website highlighting her “accomplishments”. It was a large scandal at my school.

the issue with reaching out to administration is that this is the biggest acceptance our school has had in years, they may do a lot to keep her in, it makes the school look really good. although having her get rescinded AFTER enrolling/attending would look worse than her being rescinded before committing

@HydeSnark Wow. Very courageous. Where did this “applicant” end up?

@brantly I don’t know. They didn’t show up to my high school graduation after this and last I heard they had moved (back) to a country in the Persian Gulf

@HydeSnark Ah, sounds like they may be from a country where corruption is a way of life.

UPDATE: student deposited at yale, but now is going to michigan. says that aid didn’t come through, which seems unlikely considering they were previously saying that they received strong aid with their admissions decision, and they were very open about their enrollment at the school and went to the bulldog days reception. very fast change of tune. it’s pretty safe to deduce what happened with their admissions decision…

Wow.

I wonder what all those advocating “minding your own business” would do if they saw someone robbing a bank. Better yet, how would they feel coming home to find their own house burglarized, and the neighbors who watched it happen didn’t notify the police because it ‘wasn’t their concern.’

That’s great I hope my D doesn’t end up rooming with her. Seriously though why is it ok that she gets to go to Michigan?

Not even close to being analogous. Reporting something one experienced as an eyewitness is quite different from reporting hearsay. Unless the OP was sitting next to the student when s/he clicked “submit,” it’s hearsay. Regardless, the thread has reached its conclusion. Closing.
