So, I was admitted into College of Engineering (Electrical) and I am trying to make up my mind if I should accept the offer. I know the program is highly recognized. But I have also read that most graduates end up working in the mid-west area.

Does UIUC's degree carry out its reputation to places other than mid-west, such as , California?

How about to the rest of the world? Would the engineering firm across the world know of UIUC's top-notch program?

I am an international student, so there are chances I may end up working outside of US.

Well you are international and you heard of its reputation. The reputation is recognized worldwide. Maybe not quite as high as here in the states (yes it is recognized as good by anyone who knows engineering here in the states, no matter where), but I have friends who came here all the way from India just to go to school hear, so its reputation must reach pretty far.

The reason you find a lot of people going to work in the Midwest after graduation is because so many of them are from the Midwest. While going to school at UIUC opens up opportunities for you across the country and even globe, many people want to stay at least semi-close to family, so they stay in the general region. That skews the facts some.
