Hello,

I was not fortunate enough to earn an appointment to the class of 2016, so I plan to reapply. I was recently contacted by my BGO (same as last year) and he said admissions opinions vary, so I may consider requesting a new BGO for this application. I have a very good relationship with my current BGO. He is a great guy and he is also very knowledgeable. Should I request another BGO or keep the same one?

What does this mean in plain English?

I believe my BGO meant the USNA admissions office does not prefer one way or the other. In other words, it won’t hurt my application to keep the same BGO, but it would look good to have a strong recommendation from another BGO. My current BGO is awesome, so I am reluctant to request a new one. Any insight is appreciated.

Are you absolutely sure this is what he said? And what he meant?

I’d ask him directly about his recommendation, assuring him you’ve appreciated the association you’ve had this year. This is one I’d not leave to opinions from here or others beyond your BGO.

Does BGO stand for Blue and Gold Officer?
