My son is pretty tall (6’4 and change w/growth plates still open) and even with an XL Twin, it will be tight fit with his toes still hanging over. I know Bryant has XL Full beds which would help because he could sleep at an angle but he does not qualify of Bryant (not an athlete or an engineer) and is in RC South. Has anyone had success asking Housing to switch out beds or if not possible, move the bed out all together so we can put in a larger bed?

I would suggest calling rather than an email. I have little doubt they will try to accommodate you if possible. I would note a twin xl as they have at RC South is 6 foot 8 inches long.
full beds are 75 long while XL twins are 80 long… the same length as a king bed. It should be long enough.
My 6’4" son had no trouble.
