So the acceptance letter states that GT has the right to rescind their offer of admission if the final transcript grades do not match the application. So does that mean you can't end up with B's if you started with A's, you can't end up with C's if you started with B's or what? Has anyone here (or anyone you know) been rescinded from GT because their grades dropped by graduation?

i’ve been wondering the same thing

I highly doubt GT will rescind your admission because you ended up with an 89 in that AP calc class second semester, not a 90 like you had your first semester

All colleges put that on the acceptance letters although GT’s seemed to be a stronger worded version. I think it’s save to say that since you bascially had to be an A student to get in. As long as you have mostly A’s you could get away with a couple high B’s. however if you get senioritis and get all low B’s or even worse… well then you might want to have a backup plan. So basically keep doing what you have been doing for the last 3 years!

Yes, I think that most colleges put that on their acceptance letters. But the reason I wonder how serious GT is, is because official school transcripts are not sent out during the application process, they are just taking you at your word that you have A’s or B’s or whatever. And if they don’t match up at the end (senioritis maybe) will they rescind because they think you were not truthful to begin with?

Hmm… First my son sent his in anyway before he noticed that you didn’t need to and it said on his status page they recvd it… But also wasn’t GT one of the colleges where you could download a copy of you transcript with the application so as to avoid any descrecepancy(sp)? I think it was anyway. However if someone put a bunch of wrong grades down or lied about their senior year schedule then yes they would most likely get recinded.

On a side note I’m pretty sure all colleges are going to want to know if someone changes their senior schedule however unless they are dropping all their AP classes and loading up on fluff classes changing 1 class would probably be ok.

So YES If someone lied about their grades they will most like recind. Perhaps now if someone put they got an A first semester and a B second semester and really it was reversed B first semester A second Semester that would be an honest mistake. However if someone said they got A’s in classes that they got B’s in and it was more than 1 class or they fudged on their GPA well I would come up with a plan B because I don’t think that’s going to fly. Actually I think it is a test to make sure the kids that go there are honest.

Of course that’s just my opinion…

My grades were A’s and B’s at the time. Looks like I might get two C’s (AP Calc, AP Physics) for the mid year grade - hopefully I can bring those back up again to at least B’s by the time I send in official transcripts at the end of the year. But if I can’t, then will they rescind?

Ok I’m confused. My son only put down the grades that he had completed. Did you estimate your grades for your first semester? or are you on quarters or something else and did an estimate? I think if it was an estimate and they know that it was an estimate and you bring your grade back up you will be ok. They only look at your 1st three years grades for EA when making the decision… Its the RD people that they also look at 1st semester grades. So not sure how they got this years stuff unless you put it in?

I thought you were asking if someone put down for sophmore year that for example they got a A in AP Statistics and really that person got a B in the class…

re-read your post are you saying that you are an A/B student that for this semester you believe that you are going to get 2 C’s in AP classes and that you hope you can bring them up to B’s next semester?
If that’s the question then I think if you can bring them up you will be ok. You could always call and ask. ( although I wouldn’t say who you are…)

When I applied EA I didn’t upload my transcript just typed in my past grades. I don’t think I had to put down what I had at the time midterm, but I don’t remember. My grades used to be pretty good but now I am struggling senior year and I think I might end up with B’s and a couple of C’s. My GC said schools hate to see a downward trend and they could rescind if they wanted to. Will they rescind if they thought they admitted an A/B student and got a B/C student instead?

I don’t know. Does your GC know anybody at GT or is he/she just talking in general terms? GC maybe trying to scare you into working harder next semester. I would try and find that out if GC knows anything specific about GT or if GC can find it out for you. All you can do is try your best and see how it goes. Stressing about it now is not going to do you any good. Do you have another college that isnt quite so selective that you can go to if GT does recind?

BTW what were your stats? # AP’s ACT/SAT score? . I think might make a difference on how you were compared to the others that got accepted EA.

Plese remember this is just my opinion. GC should be able to tell you more.

My son was accepted to GT last year. he was taking 7 AP/GT classes, and another class at CC at night. It looked like he might get a couple of CS for his final grades, and before he made his final decision I wanted to make sure he wouldn’t be rescinded. The regular admissions people would NOT commit one way or another. I finally was “allowed” to talk to someon fairly high up in the admissions office after I explained my son was considering turning down significant scholarships for NO scholarship money at GT, but did not want to find out after the fact that they would turn him away. The woman assured me that the worst case, if he got even a couple of Cs, was that he’d need to meet with someone once he got down there. He wound Up NOT going to GT, and part of the reason was that it was difficult to get in touch with the “right” people to get questions answered and i got the impression that to them he was just a number.

1214mom - where did he end up going?
