Research for Medical School?

Hi

So I was wondering how important is research for getting into a good medical school. I really want to go to a good medical school like Cornell or Yale, but research is not my thing. I am more passionate about medical volunteering abroad and public health. I have been to Ghana and Ecuador to do medical volunteering and am currently getting a Master of Public Health degree. I know a lot of medical schools want medical scientists, but I was wondering if they are interested in people like me also?

Thanks!

In 2005, 88% of Cornell admittees had research experience, and 92% of Yale admittees had research experience. If you think you’re special enough to be in that 12% and 8%, then more power to you. On the other hand, not all research has to be in the basic sciences.
