Where does CC manage to find places where you can do research and internships(I'm using these terms loosely, the subject of these activities could be anything)? I live in Minnesota, which isn't exactly a hub of humanities and science related programs that would be considered ECs. The ones I have managed to locate are for college students, which is problematic because I'm a rising sophomore.

Email local researchers/college professors. I emailed a ton of them, sending them my resume with grades and classes and ec’s. Finally, one researcher accepted me two summers ago, and I am publishing a research paper with him this summer :)

Was it for a specific discipline like chemistry, physics, biology etc,?

swag in

do what firelion said…i guarantee it will turn into something

swagout

I was accepted to an intensely competitive research program (no joke, 75% of the kids ended up going to ivies/equivalents. It was a brain trust of brilliance.) Before this I contacted some physicists that said it was alright for me to work with them. PM me if you have specific questions, I could surely help. I’ve been doing hs research for 3-4 years and am actually at the lab now as I type this haha.

Minnesota has the UM-Twin Cities program where high schoolers basically take classes on campus. If you make an impression on a professor there, they might be willing to work with you, or at least refer you to someone that would
