Research Opportunities and Access to prof

I just visited Purdue last week, and I got the distinct feeling that there is barely any opportunities for research and/or internships. I am interested in doing research because I plan on doing pre-med. The reason I say this is because West Lafayette is a rural city and is basically a college town. Most of the opportunities are available at Chicago, which is very, very far away. This leads me to my question, is Purdue really a good school where students can get research opportunities. Also, how is Purdue's bio program? I always hear that Purdue is known for engineering, and when I visited, I got that feeling, because all of the buildings consisted of the different types of engineering(ie electrical, chemical, etc)?

thanks

They actually have research opportunities/internships for students on-campus. It’s all located at Discovery Park. Professors also give research opportunities to students so when you take your classes, try to get close with them. I know a person who is actually doing research at Indy as well. So there are opportunities out there, you just have to find them. Literally every internship you may want, you have to find them since they don’t find you.
