Research Opportunities?

<p>Sometimes it seems like every other person on CC is involved in some shadowy activity known as "independent research". What exactly does this entail, and how did you get the opportunity?</p>

<p>It's something I've always wanted to do, but I have no idea how to make it happen. I'd love to do something like RSI, but it seems kind of circular-- like I'd have to already have research experience to get the research experience offered by RSI.</p>

<p>So, yeah... Any advice?</p>

<p>"independent research" means it is independent. try other summer programs...internships..etc...visit the Summer Program thread..doing research during school year is'nt so easy for people who doesn't have the right guidance and stuffs.</p>

<p>There are other RSI-like programs out there - HSHSP, Simons at SUNY Stony Brook, Cornell Nanotechnology, and stuff.</p>
