Caltech requires you to submit an optional research paper.

I'm been working on a calculus research paper which, because of no mentor, is on a halt. My results point to the fact that it's either incorrect or a breakthrough :P. Should I submit the incomplete (or say, incorrect) research paper?

It doesn’t require you to submit a paper, hence the “optional” part of the phrase.

Also, according to my math major friend who is sitting next to me (fellow Techer), you’re most likely not going to have a breakthrough with it. If it’s incomplete and not proofread thus far, I would advise against submitting it along with your application.

Breakthrough was an exaggeration. So, I would just mention about initiating the paper but not being able to carry through because of null resources. Cool?
