<p>A friend and I have been doing biochemistry research since the end of this July. A professor at Texas State (the best we could find in short notice, plus we live near) has been mentoring us. As far as we can tell, we have impressed him with what we have done, and he has offered a couple of times to write us recs. Is this a good idea? He knows us perhaps as well as a person could in that amount of time, but still...</p>
<p>Generally speaking, yes, especially if he´s offered. </p>
<p>Since he isn´t an offical rec, you can read it before sending it out (don’t tell him if you don’t.) and accept the offer. Most schools allow for an extra rec or two, if they contribute something valuable.</p>
