I know it's extremely early, but I'm really excited about applying to RSI.

AND, I'd like to set a record or something.

I know it's extremely early, but I'm really excited about applying to RSI.

AND, I'd like to set a record or something.

Wow.

Um, RSI 2007 hasn't even started. There is absolutely nothing anyone can say on this topic right now.

I would suggest asking the RSI Intro thread about what seemed to have worked for them....otherwise, I'd say wait until September at least.

LOL. I think you definitely set some kind of record!

Aaah, I wish I had questions I could ask, like maybe "What are my chances of getting in," or something, but

a.) I won't get in
and
b.) I haven't even done anything that would give anyone an idea of how good I am at stuff

I guess this is what happens when you start this like 8 months before the application even comes out.

Dang, people just get more and more competitive every year...

Seriously, summer 2008 is a long way off.

Yeppers. The school year's not even done yet...

I bet this is a thread that wants to compete with our TASP 2007 thread status :D

And don't be so negative! I thought I had no chance for getting an interview in TASP, and somehow...I did. Though I'm going to get rejected soon, but regardless!

i'd appreciate any and all advice :)

lol i never knew RSI even existed until a few weeks ago ;)

at this point in my life i have no research, no science competitions, no music competitions

i'm taking calc bc and chem ap this yr, self study bio
i'm taking sat and act this yr
sat ii: math 760; world history 730 (ugh)
psat: 220 (math:70)

umm... basically, i'm wondering if anybody has advice for me if i want to get into RSI???

bump... (i hate to do this, sorry)

lol just letting u noe tat the RSI is like the most selective summer program and I think that the admission rate is liike 6% or sumthing (can't remember)...so you may also want to look into other programs. I am guessing that you are a rising junior? What are your extracurriculars? What awards have you won? What are your passions? Work hard during your junior year.. look into math competitions (AMC's) and other competitions. It may be too late to start research cause doing research during the school year with a tough course load is hard. What is your GPA and rank?

lawlz0rz you have no chance as of right now sorry

do research, enter science and math competitions and do well, show passion for science etc.

Well, I guess now that RSI 2007 is actually over, it makes more sense to BUMP this thread?

Except it says on the RSI website that applications won't come out until November.

Wow... this thread started last April!?

The enthusiasm of the next generation is rather stifling. Nevertheless, have fun!

What if the project that you want to work on is in relatively new, and not very developed subject? By that I mean there's one or two journals specifically on it...

Would this effect chances of getting in?

seriously guys, wayyyyy to early

chillllllll

The applications aren't terribly different year to year, if that helps.

Hi, Does anyone have 2007 application paper? the RSI website doesn't have it anymore, and I would like to take a look as to what is on the application form, what's been asked? I would appreciated if someone can provide me a copy of it.

Thanks

Hello, everyone. I have just become moderator of this Summer Programs Forum, so I will encourage all young people interested in RSI 2008 to post in this thread, which indeed was begun in April 2007, well before when I was thinking about RSI 2008. I've had the privilege of face-meeting only two rickoids so far, if I remember correctly, but I "know" some others online and I hope you have an enjoyable, informative thread here. I expect all of the major summer programs will have major CC threads this year, and I wish all of you all the best in making your plans for summer 2008.

tokenadult (brand-new moderator of Summer Programs Forum)

P.S. I will also try to merge in other threads about RSI 2008 (as I just did as I post this postscript) so that most of the specific discussion of RSI can occur in one thread, which is also how I will try to moderate this forum with regard to other summer programs.

I am excited too...did psych research assistantship over the summer and am taking biotech this year! Which is cool, I figure, because even if I don't get in I am still very excited about the class.

Okay, I know it's not application season yet but well I'm excited! and school hasn't started for me and I was just wondering a couple things.

We need two teacher reccomendations- is it any two teachers from school? One math/science and the other humanities? One math, one science?

Also, am I allowed to submit a secondary rec from a summer program I went to this summer?

AND, has anyone in the past several years gone for astronomy?

Thanks in advance :)
