Research/ Student Life

Hi,

I was wondering about the research opportunities at Holy Cross. If one wants to do research, is it relatively easy to find a position? Also, with Holy Cross being fairly small, is there enough to do on the weekends that it doesn't seem repetitive (i.e. dances, shows, etc.)?

What area of research are you looking to do? For the sciences it is relatively easy since there are no grad students at HC and the profs are always looking for help on their projects. Usually it is up to the student to show some interest and ask several profs if they have room in the lab. When students start varies based upon the type of lab (ie Orgo profs usually will only take students who have completed the orgo sequence). Also, there is a summer research program where usually about 60 students stay for 10 weeks over the summer and do research with the profs.

Honestly, there really isn’t much to do. There’s the EDGE on Saturdays if you like to dance. But the EDGE, IMO, is lame.

People do the same thing every week–drink in someone/their dorm room or go to Caro to drink.

You can go to Boston on Friday’s and Saturday nights. And you can go to Rhode Island to shop.
