Hello, I am currently a junior majoring in psychology, planning on eventually earning a phd or psy d. I'm just now realizing how crucial it is to have research experience to get into any of these programs, and I currently have none. I've been looking at my school's research opportunities, and it seems that none are available for students entering their senior year. I was wondering how I should go about getting some research experience. Should I reach out to professors who are researching topics that I am interested in? Would I benefit from going to graduate school for my masters first, and gaining research experience there? I would really appreciate any advice... thank you!

It’s in your best interest to do some research before you apply to grad school.
It doesn’t have to be at the college you attend. You can start by talking to Psych professors and seeing if you can get involved in anything they’re up to. You can also talk to professors at nearby schools to look into research. You could also do research on youur own, if you’re motivated enough.
