Residential Colleges versus Traditional Housing

What are the advantages and disadvantages of Residential Colleges housing? Aside from perhaps better dorms, is it superior to Traditional Housing? Where would an out-of-state student integrate better?

Some res colleges have better dorms than traditional housing, but not all of them. The advantage of living in a res college is that you get to take classes with the people who live in your dorm and share similar interests as you. You don’t take every course in the dorm, but you might take some of the beginning required freshman classes. As of right now, if you’re a prospective engineering, business, computer, mass comm, ag, basic science major or an honor student, there will be a res dorm open for you. If you’re majoring in education or liberal arts, there aren’t any res dorms unless you live in Miller or Herget (Both of these are freshman only dorms and one of these is an all girl dorm).
