Responding to a quote?

Hello, I am in the process of responding to a couple of different common app prompts to see which one i think I can write the best essay out of. However, in my english class this year, we had an extra credit assignment to respond to an Emerson Aphorism and although the essay only had to be around a paragraph, I took it much farther and honestly discovered a lot about who I am and what I believe in. The essay is extremely philosophical and not so anecdotal, but I feel that it relates to me possibly more than anything I have ever written. Do you think it would be possible to use this (i would edit it a little bit of course) or should I go with another essay? (the other common app essay I have written is about how coffee has affected my life from being introduced to it when I was four by my father and then continuing exploring it when he left with my grandmother, etc). Thanks!

Does it fit a prompt?

Does it give the college a reason to say yes to your application?

It sounds like an interesting idea. Make sure it is about you and not them or coffee and that it is your story in your voice, not an essay written by you. One of the challenges many good students who are good at academic writing face is creating a personal statement that is authentic and indeed personal (as in reveals s person ).
